RCS is generated when cutting, grinding or polishing silica‑containing materials (e.g., concrete, stone). Australia’s WES is 0.05 mg/m³ (8‑hr TWA). The WHS Regulations require PCBUs to ensure no person is exposed above this limit. WA has added specific requirements for high‑risk crystalline silica processes, including air monitoring and regulator notification if WES is exceeded.  We set up robust monitoring and control programs that meet these duties.

What we do:

•              Our RCS monitoring programme uses cyclone samplers to collect respirable dust on filters, which are weighed and analysed for silica content.  

•              Task and full‑shift personal RCS sampling using recognised cyclones/filters and lab analysis. Sampling is tailored to tasks and includes personal and static monitors.

•              Wet methods, on‑tool extraction, LEV, isolation and process changes to reduce dust at source.

•              Results are compared to the exposure standard, and we provide clear control recommendations
